Ka-band antenna with a view of Würzburg at night
With our Ka-band antenna and tracking service, you gain direct, hassle-free access to a high-performance ground station infrastructure without having to set up and operate a highly dynamic tracking antenna yourself. The system uses the EPAK DSi9 Ka PRO with a 90-cm parabolic reflector, 42.2 dBi receive gain and 46.0 dBi transmit gain, as well as a three-axis drive with a tracking speed of up to 50°/s. Positioning is based on integrated GNSS and is supplemented by RF tracking and inertial sensors. Satellite acquisition is automated and typically takes only about 30 seconds to achieve lock-on.
For you, this means: connect your own modem, test satellite communication, and focus on the actual application. The antenna is compatible with numerous common modems, including, for example:
Through an integrated MQTT connection, current orbital parameters can be transmitted quickly and automatically to the antenna system, enabling efficient support not only for GEO and MEO satellites but also for dynamic LEO and VLEO missions. According to the manufacturer, the DSi9 Ka PRO is specifically designed for high data rates and, thanks to its Ka-band configuration, offers high transmission speeds in both the downlink and uplink—ideal for data-intensive applications such as communication tests, video data, streaming, link and performance measurements, as well as research, development, and demonstration missions.
