Student Assistant AOCS – Operations and Data Analysis (m/f/d)

To strengthen our space team in various projects and missions, we are looking for a Student Assistant (m/f/d) for a range of tasks, in particular in the area of attitude and orbit control (AOCS) of our satellites.

Tasks

• Preparation of AOCS experiments and in-orbit observations, e.g. for the TOM satellite formation
• Identification and selection of suitable observation targets
• Analysis of in-orbit telemetry as well as of data from laboratory and hardware-in-the-loop test campaigns
• Evaluation of attitude control and pointing performance against simulation results
• Extension, improvement and automation of our analysis tools
• Further tasks according to interest and need

Requirements

• Good programming skills in Python (e.g. NumPy, pandas, matplotlib)
• Basic knowledge of control engineering, signal processing or orbital mechanics of advantage
• Independent and structured way of working
• Team spirit and willingness to learn
• Interest in long-term employment (at least 1 year)

The position is designed for 30–50 hours per month and is paid at the typical student assistant rate. Longer-term employment is intended. The work is carried out at Zentrum für Telematik e.V., Magdalene-Schoch-Str. 5, 97074 Würzburg (Hubland Campus Nord, 2 minutes’ walk from the Mensateria).
