Student Assistant/Bachelor Thesis on the Design and Procurement of Fixtures in the New Research Factory for Small Satellites (m/f/d).

For our research factory for small satellites we are looking for a

Student Assistant (m/f/d)

for the design and procurement of fixtures. Alternatively to the remunerated activity, there is the possibility to write a bachelor thesis.

In the research factory currently under construction at ZfT, fixtures are needed for the construction and testing of small satellites. These include, for example, fixtures for the exact positioning of printed circuit boards and solar cells for robot-assisted bonding, fixtures and clamping devices for the production of satellite parts, clamping devices for the assembly of a complete satellite, clamping devices for the adjustment and calibration of a satellite using sophisticated sensor technology.

We are looking for a student with an affinity for design and hardware, majoring in mechanical engineering or mechatronics. A previously completed dual technical training in an industrial company is an advantage. In cooperation with the responsible staff members of the institute, the job includes the design of the fixtures, the identification of smaller mechanical companies in the vicinity of Würzburg, ordering, commissioning and testing of the fixtures including any necessary rework.

Enjoyment of designing and “tinkering”, creativity, a good general technical basic understanding, a structured work style and the ability to work in a team are expected.

The job offers exposure to sophisticated engineering within a prestigious project, small series production of small satellites. The job offers the position holder the opportunity to excel with innovative approaches to the design of the fixtures. As the role also involves organizational activities, the jobholder can also develop management skills. An early development of these non-technical skills is advantageous for a later responsible assumption of tasks in industrial companies.

The assistant positions are scheduled for 30-50 h/month and are remunerated at the standard salary rate of the University of Würzburg. Long-term employment is desired. The work is to be carried out at the Zentrum für Telematik e.V., Magdalene-Schoch-Str. 5, 97074 Würzburg (at Hubland Campus North, 2 min. walk from the Mensateria).
