ZfT on Television: SAT.1 Reports on Small Satellites from Würzburg

12.12.2025

The Center for Telematics (ZfT) recently hosted a television segment by SAT.1. The camera team accompanied our work and presented our research in the field of small satellites as well as our long-term vision for space technology.

The report clearly illustrates the focus of ZfT’s activities and the direction of future developments: as early as next year, ten small satellites are scheduled to be launched into space. If successful, this would represent a new European record. At the same time, ZfT is working toward enabling the development and production of satellites in significantly larger quantities and within much shorter timeframes – a key future market for the space industry.

In addition to the technological aspects, the segment also highlights concrete applications. These include 3D Earth observation, environmental and forest damage monitoring, as well as scenarios such as volcanic eruptions, where precise elevation data is critical for aviation safety.

We are very pleased that the report provides an authentic insight into our research and objectives – and that space research from Würzburg is being showcased on television.

The segment is available free of charge on YouTube, and the full program can be accessed on Joyn (from minute 11:30).

Many thanks to SAT.1 for the visit and the coverage.
