Remote control of robots

Significant progress is being made for robotics with respect to autonomy. However, this still leaves many tasks and applications that make the human being irreplaceable for control tasks. The reasons include safety aspects or complex, dynamic tasks and work environments. Application examples include the support of search and rescue missions through robots or robot missions in space. The level of human perception, the capabilities for interpretation of such situations as well as the capability to make decisions with limited available information based on experience and intuition can currently not yet be achieved by artificial systems. Zentrum für Telematik e.V. therefore works on solutions to realize optimized systems for the remote control of individual robots, but also for the coordination of teams consisting of human beings and robots, which optimally combine the technical capabilities of robots with the human capabilities for the control and coordination of robots.
